Dear AstroCamp, Camp Motorsport & Camp CHOP Families,
In uncertain times, we seek out our communities for comfort and reach out to offer support. As we continue to encounter the ever-changing impact of COVID-19, I am thinking about our community of campers, families, and staff alumni across generations and the globe. It has been on display this past week with all of the notes and stories I am receiving from members of our larger community this week.
Like all camps in California and around most of the world, we remain optimistic and continue to plan for summer this year, as both you and I understand how vital Summer 2020 will be for all children. This return to normalcy, into a safe, supportive, and healthy environment is what every young person in the world needs.
Our organization continues to monitor the COVID-19 updates and recommendations from the CDC. Currently, those recommendations do not impact our summer schedule. We understand that there are some moving pieces and will continue to update and be flexible with familial circumstances.
In the last week, we have shared our medical procedures and camper health plans with you in detail. I am sure that you also have lots of questions about the financial investment you have made in our program and current deadlines. Below you will find information regarding the steps we are taking to support you during this time. We hope these new policies will alleviate the pressure on our families to make immediate decisions:
- TUITION PAYMENT: We will not be charging anyone’s credit card until May 15th. At this point, there will be no financial repercussions if you delay in making a decision until then.
- PAPERWORK: Paperwork deadlines have been lifted for the time being. We will update you as to new due dates soon.
We wanted to make sure that you knew about a source of insurance that you can purchase to protect your financial investment in camp.
- PROGRAM PROTECTION INSURANCE: Another available option to financially assist our camp families is the Program Protector insurance offered through a third-party vendor, TravMark. If you have yet to pay the tuition in full, you are still able to purchase the Enhanced plan, which includes the Cancel for Any Reason benefit. TravMark states, “Trip cancellation due to fear or World Health Organization and Travel Advisories are generally not covered under any travel protection plan unless Cancel For Any Reason coverage is purchased. “Please see the attached document for more Program Protector details. More communication will be coming in the next few weeks when more details are available. We encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns.
We know that your campers have been affected by school and event cancellations and are likely feeling discouraged about the future. AstroCamp, Camp Motorsport & Camp CHOP wants to be that light at the end of the tunnel for our families and campers who look to at the end of this challenging time.
Stay healthy, and keep washing your hands!
The AstroCamp, Camp Motorsport & Camp CHOP Team
