There’s no better feeling for a camper than when a care package comes in from home. Filled to the brim with familiar comforts from home, as well as snacks and supplies to help the young camper get through the remaining weeks of camp.
So what should you be packing in your campers care package? Here are a few ideas.
Pet Selfies From Home
Nothing lights up a camper’s face more when they open up their care package than when they see some pictures of their furry friends from back home. Kids always seem to have the closest relationship with the family pet, and having those pictures to hang around their bunk really helps on the days when homesickness kicks in.
Homemade Baked Goods
Cookies, brownies, all of the baked goods that mom or dad are famous for baking are great additions to a care package. Homemade baked goods are always better than anything the camper could buy from the snack shack, because they’re made with love and taste just like home.
Comic Books or Magazines
It’s not always go, go, go at camp. There can be plenty of downtime. Give your camper something to read to entertain them during that downtime. A few of their favorite comic books or magazines give them something to do between Gaga ball and axe throwing, and they’ll gain some points with other campers by letting their friends borrow them.
Glow Sticks and Glow in the Dark Stuff
There are plenty of camp activities that take place at night, and nothing increases the fun of those camp activities quite like glow sticks and other glow-in-the-dark items, like bracelets, necklaces, or shirts. Campers love running around at parties at night chased by the glow-in-the-dark accessories.
Nothing caps off a care package better than a thoughtful letter from mom and dad. Let your camper know how much you miss them, and what you’ve been up to while they’ve been at summer camp. If they have siblings at home, let your camper know what their siblings have been up to, or let their siblings write part of the letter themselves. Your kids will really appreciate it.
